Press releases continue to be an effective means of gaining exposure, especially in small local papers. I maintain a list of media contacts for Connecticut publications, so that releases can reach their targeted audience. In addition, many releases can be modified to be used as blog posts or in social media or email campaigns.
UConn Health – SNAP-Ed Grant
I served as the Communications lead for the SNAP-Education grant awarded to UConn Health. In 2017, I gained our small team national exposure for several of our nutrition education programs. While working as the Digital Marketing Manager for Regional Hospice and Home Care in 2016, I regularly wrote and distributed press releases that were picked up by local media. Following are a few examples:
In 2009 I wrote a press release for Thompson Chocolate which landed the store an article in the local newspaper, as well as, an interview from a popular CT television station.
Hamden Public Schools
In 2005 I worked with the Hamden Public Schools Adult Education program writing weekly press releases that were submitted to local media. The releases were readily picked up and printed, often without modification. Here are a few:
